One platform, three doors
A managed workspace where your data lands, gets cleaned and organised, and starts answering questions. Pipelines, contracts, governance, and an AI analyst — without hiring a data team or assembling a stack.
Ask in plain language, get an answer drawn from data you are cleared to see — with the query, the sources, and the rules it obeyed shown alongside. Works with our assistant or the one you already use.
Datasets on Kenya and East Africa, cleaned, documented, and published under contract by the organisations that own them — or built by Griot from public sources. Verified before listing, governed on every access.
What we are not
We are not a data broker. We do not buy data, and nothing is listed on our marketplace unless its producer chose to list it.
We do not take data that is not ours to take. Datasets are either placed on the platform by the organisation that owns them, on terms that organisation set, or built by Griot from publicly available sources — cleaned, documented, and redistributed under their original licences.
And personal data is not our product. Personal and sensitive fields are masked according to each dataset's declared rules before results leave the platform.
Why we exist
Most valuable data never leaves the organisation that produced it, because sharing it is risky. Once you send someone a file, you have no say in what they do with it and no way to prove it was handled properly. So decisions, research, and products get built on whatever happens to be public — usually incomplete, out of date, or impossible to verify.
Contracts change that. When the terms of use travel with the data and are enforced on every access, owners can share and commercialise what they hold, and users can rely on what they receive. That is the infrastructure we build — and we build it first for African businesses, where trustworthy data infrastructure should be the default, not an expensive add-on.
What you get
Your data remains yours. You decide who may use it and for what, those rules are applied automatically on every use, and you can see how it is being used at any time.
What you receive has been cleaned, documented and checked before it reaches you. You know what it contains, where it came from, and what you may do with it. No surprises after you pay.
Every dataset is verified before it is listed, and every access is recorded. If anyone ever asks how data was handled, the record answers.
Connect your AI assistant, or use ours, and get answers straight from the data — with sources named and every question on the record. It sees only what you are allowed to see.
Who uses it
Organisations that hold data use Griot to put it to work — and, when they choose, to share or commercialise it safely. Investors, researchers, NGOs and enterprises use it to work from reliable, verified data on African markets. Teams building with AI use it to give their assistants data they are actually allowed to use.
The catalog on this site is what runs on that infrastructure today: 0 datasets from 0 producers, each one checked and verified before listing.
Where we are
Griot Data Technologies is built in Nairobi, Kenya, for African businesses first. The Kenya Data Protection Act is not a compliance checkbox for us — it is home ground.
